The next Home & Community-based Services Committee Meeting will be Wed. April 30 at 2:30pm-4pm at Seniors Helping Seniors located at 65 West Street Road, Building A (2nd floor conference room), Warminster, PA.
Dr. Maryann Galietta will speak about The Current Status of DNR Orders for Patients Living at Home in Pennsylvania. Get a better understanding of the legal rights of patients in the home regarding DNR wishes and the obstacles that exist in having these wishes recognized in the home and across the continuum of care (i.e., EMTs, hospital ERs, or personnel in nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes.)
Below is a high-level summary of Dr. Galietta’s career:
- A solo long-term care practice in Bucks County for over 25 years.
- Was a founding member and served on a Facility Ethics Committee for over ten years.
- Currently sits on a Hospice Ethics Committee and a Hospital Ethics Committee.
- Was one of the representatives from Bucks County at the Summit On Aging convened by then Governor Rendell to study and improve the care of the aging population in Pennsylvania. This was after the Robert Wood Johnson study found Pennsylvania to rank near the bottom of care for the aging compared to the other states.
